Du 27 juillet au 12 août, pendant les derniers Jeux olympiques à Londres, le taux d'occupation des hôtels de la capitale britannique a augmenté de 4,8% par rapport à la même période un an plus tôt.
Selon les résultats de STR Global, publiés vendredi 17 août, le taux d'occupation des hôtels de Londres a atteint en moyenne 88,5% durant toute la durée des JO.
En moyenne, les touristes ont déboursé 212,22£ (environ 270€) pour leur nuitée hôtelière, soit une explosion de +86,1% par rapport à la même période l'an dernier.
Le taux d'occupation le plus élevé a été enregistré par les hôtels du quartier de Docklands/Greenwich (95%, +9% sur un an). Un phénomène qui s'explique notamment parce que les tarifs hôteliers étaient parmi les moins élevés de la capitale britannique (136,63£, +69,8%, soit environ 174€).
Côté prix, c'est dans le quartier de Knightsbridge/Pimlico/Victoria que les supporters ont payé le plus cher (353,59£ en moyenne, +104%, soit environ 450€).
STR Global: Great Olympics benefitting London hoteliers
London hotels reported increases in average daily rate and revenue per available room during the 2012 Olympic Games, according to STR Global, the leading service provider of market information to the hotel industry. The games started with the opening ceremony Friday, 27 July 2012 and ended Sunday, 12 August 2012.
Hoteliers across London reported average occupancy of 88.5 percent and ADR of £212.22. This represents an increase of 4.8 percent and 86.1 percent, respectively, compared to the same days the year prior. STR Global tracks daily performance from more than 390 hotels in London and 2,400 hotels across the United Kingdom overall.
"The London 2012 Olympic Games have provided great sporting moments and a very enjoyable atmosphere for athletes and spectators alike", commented Elizabeth Randall Winkle, managing director of STR Global. "The smooth running of the event and its positive coverage to a global TV audience will encourage more visitors to come to London in the future. London's hoteliers are looking forward to welcoming them as well as preparing to host guests for the Paralympics, held 29 August through 9 September".
