According to the U.S. Department of Commerce sponsored China Travel Trade Barometer, 90 percent of the tour operators surveyed (as of March 12 - April 9, 2012) projected an increase in bookings from China to the United States (including Hawaii and Guam) in the second quarter of 2012. A small minority (4%) projected second quarter 2012 growth at no change.
All (100%) of the Chinese travel trade projected third quarter 2012 bookings to be higher, on average, compared to third quarter 2011.
Over the next six months, the top motivators for travel to the United States were reported to be direct air service to desired destination(s) and visa processing time.
Pandemics/epidemics (e.g. H1N1 Flu) in the United States ranked as the top deterrent for travel to the United States over the next six months.
